A Note From Our Co-founder
COVID-19 & the current state of affairs in our country have challenged all aspects of our everyday life and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Our society has had to adjust and change the way we teach our children, shop for essential goods, conduct our businesses and go about our work lives. During the middle of 2020 tax filing season we were forced to work with our clients on a remote basis, few exceptions were made as some taxpayers were unable to adjust, however a face covering was mandatory for any office visitors. As we prepare for the upcoming 2021 income tax filing season we are continually keeping ourselves abreast of the probability of a second wave of COVID-19 impacting the New York City area and how the containment of the virus has progressed or regressed in Broward County, Florida. For the upcoming season we will implement client interaction policies consistent with the ongoing development of the pandemic as we prioritize the safety and well being of our staff and clients. Our firm is well positioned to continue working with our clients remotely and has been proactive in transitioning from traditional methods of tax preparation and tax representation. Back in 2018 we introduced our secure web portal (https://thoroughtax.securefilepro.com/portal/#/login) allowing clients to send us their tax documents and supporting schedules/reports through an electronic upload. We've made it easy for taxpayers to communicate with us using social media through platforms like Yelp, Twitter and our website. Most of our business clients subscribe to the QuickBooks Online application which facilitates the remote management of their accounting books and generating real time financial statements. We're looking forward to the 2021 tax season and we wish you, your family, friends and loved ones safety and great health.
Regards,
Gabriel Sanchez, Co-founder
Enrolled Agent Tax Professionals
Thorough Tax was formed and is managed by IRS Enrolled Agents. Many taxpayers are unfamiliar with this designation, below is a brief description as it appears on the IRS website page:
An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service by either passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns, or through experience as a former IRS employee. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.
Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have unlimited practice rights. This means they are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before. Learn more about enrolled agents in Treasury Department Circular 230 (PDF).
